CATIA/NX Product Designer

On behalf of our Tier 1 injection moulding client, we are recruiting an experienced CATIA/NX Product Designer to join their team.

Work Model
Hybrid model offered after successful completion of a 3-month probation period:
• 3 days in-office
• 2 days remote

Important Note
• Must be willing and able to travel internationally without restrictions as of start date

Responsibilities

• Generate new product designs within Product Development using advanced engineering tools and processes
• Improve existing product designs using VAVE, DOE, and related best practices
• Apply customer requirements, supplier input, and regulatory standards to all design activities
• Support new product development through the APQP process
• Provide design support during ECR processes
• Contribute to design innovation initiatives

Key Tasks (with documentation)

• Vehicle and/or part data procurement
• Concept design participation
• System and component design and reviews
• Specification procurement and application
• 3D CAD model and drawing creation/revision (NX8, CATIA V5)
• Design verification and validation (tolerance analysis, engineering calculations, prototypes, fit-ups, DVP&R management, product testing)
• DFMEA, DFM/DFA, VA/VE analysis, material specifications, DVP&R
• Bill of Materials (BOMs)
• Installation ease documentation and work instructions
• Support APQP, ECR, and innovation-related design elements

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Mechanical diploma or degree (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 3 years of Automotive Product Design/Engineering experience (injection molding preferred)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and technical understanding
• Proficiency in NX and CATIA V5
• Experience leading or participating in design reviews, FMEA, and brainstorming sessions
• Ability to act as design liaison between customers and suppliers
• Flexibility to work at various locations
• Willingness to travel (approximately 10% within Ontario, USA, and occasional overseas assignments)

Compensation & Benefits

• $75,000 – $95,000 per year (based on experience)
