Job Summary
The engineering supervisor manages a team of engineers, overseeing daily operations, tasks assignments and ensuring quality work while providing technical support and mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Oversees daily activities of engineering staff, ensuring tasks are completed on time and meet quality standards.
- Manage project budgets, track expenses and ensure cost control measures are in place.
- Assign, train, develop and supervise manufacturing engineers, student engineers, outside vendors.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the team, ensuring they have the resources and knowledge needed to succeed.
- Identify and implement process improvements and/or new technologies to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Assists in planning and coordination of new engineering analysis tools, such as CAD, CAD/CAM system, CAT, quotation sheet.
- Liaise with other departments (e.g., production, materials, QA) to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
- Oversees the design, development and implementation of manufacturing processes and systems.
- Ensure that all manufacturing processes meet quality standards and comply with industry regulations and safety standards protocols.
- Stay current with industry trends and technologies to incorporate best practices into engineering processes.
- Set goals, evaluate performance and provide feedback and development opportunities for team members.
- Monitor and enforce quality control processes to maintain high standards of work.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical or industrial engineering or equivalent.
- Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of professional engineers is required to approve engineering drawings and reports and to practices as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.).
- 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
