Founding Product Designer
About the Role
Incentiv is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our founding team. The role requires a self-starter, clear communicator, and someone passionate about partnering with other functions to set the strategic vision, design direction, and visual polish required to fuel our next era of growth. This role will partner across disciplines to drive an understanding of our users, define opportunities, set the strategic vision for our experiences, and deliver high-quality designs across UI, UX, and company collateral.
We are looking for candidates with a high degree of comfort with the full product design process – from research and discovery to ideation to execution. To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong sense of ownership, drive, and the ability to influence product direction to meet aggressive goals.
As a new company, we are eager to have the design function as part of the company’s foundation – this is a unique opportunity to build not only a best-in-class product from the ground up, but also grow the maturity of a new design function and its impact on strategy and delivery.
This role will report directly to Incentiv’s Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Be a great listener. Know our users, understand their pain points, listen to their feedback, walk in their shoes, be their champions. Work with software development teams to meet technical requirements, facilitating workshops, design sprints, and other collaborative design sessions.
- Uphold a high standard for design excellence, and contribute to raising the bar for design at the company. Explore multiple ideas while also knowing when to bring the work to an executable deliverable that is a user-centric experience and high-quality solution that simplifies complex problems. Consider the nuances, challenges, and opportunities of different device types, screen sizes, and platforms
- Be a great cross-functional partner and strategist. Collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders to define and solve complex user problems together. Take initiative, and provide value with your design domain expertise. Understand core product metrics to drive overall design strategy as well as supporting brand initiatives and collateral as needed
- Be an expert communicator. Effectively articulate the value of design as well as the reasons for your design decisions clearly, in non-designer-speak, to Product and Engineering teammates as well as other important stakeholders. Receive design feedback with professionalism and patience, and give clear and usable design feedback to others
- Build out a design capability. Actively evolve and strengthen our design system for a cohesive user experience, including crafting components, auditing libraries, and ensuring quality in application of the system. Cultivate a culture of learning, self-improvement, and knowledge-sharing. Attract, motivate, and retain a world class design team
Qualifications
- Experience: +4 years of experience as a product designer, with work ranging from strategic ideation and problem-solving to wireframes, prototypes, and polished designs
- Portfolio which displays a strong design point of view and depth of experience with digital products (web to apps), including user-centered design methodologies, interaction flows, prototyping, high-fidelity screens, and shipped products
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Figma and usertesting.com (or similar programs)
- Experience designing data visualization-intensive experiences
- Experience delivering multiple projects with cross-disciplined teams
- Experience defining patterns/style guides, performing user testing, and building low to high fidelity prototypes.
- Non-Technical Skills
- An appreciation for how language can simplify, clarify, and bring life to an experience
- A passion for research, with an understanding of how to process and balance qualitative feedback quantitative data, and empathy to drive innovative, user-centric solutions.
- A growth mindset along with informed and strong opinions, loosely held.

Benefits: In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive a “founding team” equity grant in the form of stock options. Pay Range: $150-175k
