Position Information
We seek a talented Junior UX/UI Designer to join our team and contribute to creating impactful digital experiences for the entire state of Texas. In this role, you’ll design intuitive user-friendly interfaces for responsive websites, working alongside experienced team members. You’ll collaborate on defining requirements, creating wireframes, designing prototypes, and interating based on feedback. Position Description
We are seeking a talented Junior UX/UI Designer who is passionate about understanding user needs, desires, and behaviors. In this collaborative environment, you will strategically address business objectives while advocating for user needs and delivering value step-by-step. You’ll work closely with the UX/UI designer and web team contributing new features, extending our design system, and more. You’re comfortable discussing overarching requirements with stakeholders, technical details with developers and integrating accessibility best practices. Working with design systems, user patterns, and documentation will be part of your learning journey in this role.
Essential Duties:
- Help design engaging user-centered experiences for websites
- Collaborates with stakeholders to understand and define business objectives
- Creates user journey maps, empathy maps, and user personas
- Contribute to enterprise digital design system
- Collaborate with senior designer on components and document user interface states and development requirements
- Identity technical, business, and time limitations and design within these constraints
- Assist with user research activities documenting and implementing actionable feedback
- Contribute to vendor application/product reviews
- Stays up-to-date with UX best practices and industry standardsAssists translating industry standards, like Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) into understandable guidelines for user experience and interface design
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in web design or web development, or a related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis OR related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Experience: 3 years of experience in Interface design, Information architecture, User mobile design and/or web site design and production (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Graphic design is preferred.
Competencies:
Experience in Figma application and Adobe Creative Cloud suite applications
Experience with Adobe Experience manager, Craft, Drupal, WordPress, or other content management systems
Understanding of design principles, best practices, and UX laws
Ability to prioritize, plan and time management skills
Experience with Monday.com, Confluence, Sharepoint, or other collaboration platforms
Understanding of WCAG 2.0
Demonstrated understanding of user experience and user interface design
Experience collaborating with stakeholders, developers, and other designers
Experience in user testing and user research
Understanding of graphic and visual design principles
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools

Standing-prolonged periods of time
Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
