Job Description
Job Summary
The Product Design Lead will be responsible for elevating our digital experience by taking a user and data-driven approach to product design across multiple digital products. We are looking for a Design Lead with demonstrated success at leading, designing, and delivering high-quality, user-focused digital products while partnering directly with engineering and product management teams to ensure the desired product outcomes are achieved. This role will be responsible for creating top-tier designs, defining, and completing user-based research and testing, and mentoring/delegating other product designers during projects and initiatives.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead one or more Product Design projects simultaneously and assist on others where needed
- Evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product and engineering
- Create and execute a research plan for all assigned initiatives
- Lead in the creation of personas, journey maps, storyboards, process flows and sitemaps, and other artifacts that help communicate the context of people, situations, and challenges that will shape and influence our associate design and product solutions
- Partner with product managers to create user-centric concepts by gathering and considering user feedback and usability findings and leverage qualitative and quantitative data for project initiatives.
- Be the go-to, hands-on associate experience and creative expert for your assigned products and initiatives
- Lead in the production of mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how a product is required to function and look
- Confidently define and communicate design solutions and rationale to stakeholders and executives
- Facilitate the creation of original graphics (e.g., images, sketches, and tables)
- Lead in the building and maintenance of style guides and other assets to deliver to the engineering team for execution
- Inspire innovative approaches to design and champion meetings, brainstorms, and design tasks and sprints
- Based on feedback from Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders, quickly iterate design solutions within your team.
- Actively participate in the software delivery process, including quality testing in pre- and post-production environments
- Assist in the creation and delivery of user training materials where appropriate

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field, or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of professional Product Design, UX, or UI design experience
- 1+ year leading or managing one or more Product Designers
- Experience in successfully designing and delivering 1+ full iOS, Android, or mobile-first web projects
- Experience working in agile team environment, using tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Experience leading design sprints

Skills/Specialized Knowledge
- Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills, particularly in a largely distributed work environment.
- Ability to thrive under pressure and function effectively in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to gracefully accept design feedback, and ensure data-driven insights remain at the forefront
- Exhibit sound judgment and swift decision-making skills
- Exhibit strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to collaborate, delegate, and build consensus with others
- Strong understanding of usability principles, web standards, UI patterns and their application, as well as mobile app usage and design
- Strong experience using analytics or other data insights to inform design decisions
- Superior design aesthetic and a strong ability to judge visual appearance, ensuring alignment with brand and enterprise standards
- Exceptional experience in design and prototyping software such as Sketch, Figma, XD, Adobe Creative Suite, Zeplin or similar
- Home leasing industry knowledge a plus
Physical and Mental Demands
This position will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The position may also entail light lifting of supplies and materials occasionally, up to and including 20 pounds in addition to reaching, stooping, standing, and walking. This position requires the ability to talk, hear, compare, compute, compile, copy, analyze, coordinate, synthesize, negotiate, and communicate.
