Position Description: We are looking for a University student pursuing a UX Design, Interaction design, engineering or related degree who is interested in a 12-week Summer 2023 Internship. The ideal candidate will share our passion and pride in the simple elegance and usability of our solution. During this internship you will work on our administrative dashboard to improve how our customers navigate and configure our product. You are a problem solver who cares about making a meaningful impact and enjoys working as part of a collaborative, high growth, distributed team.
You will join our Developer Experience Product Domain.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work cross-functionally with Product Managers and Engineers to understand the team’s priorities
- Participate in research and communicate insights to help the team understand customer problems
- Design thoughtful, intuitive, and creative solutions
- Collaborate with designers and engineers to develop and expand our design system
- Define data and analytics to measure design solutions
- Share work early and often and seek out constructive feedback from peers, product teams, and other stakeholders
- Iterate on solutions based on direct and indirect stakeholder feedback
- Work together with designers on other product teams to keep work consistent, improve quality, contribute to our team processes and principles
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Can distill complex problems into precise, simple, and delightful solutions
- Experience developing wireframes and prototypes
- Have an understanding of UI/UX/Visual design concepts and a keen eye for detail
- Understand the importance of consistent UX patterns to improve the overall user experience and look and feel.
- Have contributed to the development of a comprehensive design system
- Proficient with Figma (or similar design tools)
- Have a strong portfolio that demonstrates excellence and passion for product design
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have experience designing enterprise products (B2B), ideally designing products for developers.
- Know how to make use of qualitative and quantitative data to back up your design decisions as well as suggest new research
- Have strong product sensibility
- Can transform challenging workflows into simple, usable and elegant experiences for developers.
- Enjoy being part of a highly collaborative, remote-friendly environment.
- Bonus: Experience with front-end development
Okta’s Intern Program
As an intern, you’ll do real work that matters. While you’re on board, you’ll work on meaningful projects and have an opportunity to see what working at Okta is all about. You’ll also have the support of your mentor and manager to help you develop new skills.

Interns may choose the format of their internship: either in-person at one of our Okta offices, or virtually. We give our interns the opportunity to choose the option that best suits their needs.
We offer 12 week internships in the U.S. in the Summer and 16 week co-ops in Canada.
