About the Role
We’re seeking an empathetic, data-informed Product Designer to join an empowered, cross-functional product team. Designers at Descartes are strategic partners—not order-takers—responsible for delivering exceptional user experiences and measurable business outcomes.
You will work closely with a Product Manager and Engineers to autonomously discover, design, and iterate solutions that drive user and business impact.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Process Mapping
• Drive end-to-end solution design to maximize customer productivity and value
• Lead continuous user discovery and research (interviews, surveys, usability testing)
• Develop discovery playbooks to help developers validate outcomes and accelerate learning
• Define problem spaces and synthesize research into actionable product opportunities
• Design complete user experiences from wireframes to high-fidelity visual and interaction design
• Create interactive prototypes and test frequently with real users
• Bridge user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility
• Advocate for usability and accessibility (WCAG standards)
• Use qualitative and quantitative data (analytics, KPIs) to guide decisions and measure impact
• Contribute to and maintain scalable design systems
Compliance & Optimization
• Ensure regulatory alignment in all proposed designs
• Analyze post-implementation data to identify automation and improvement opportunities
• Collect and analyze CX metrics and user feedback
Qualifications
Required
• 3–5 years of experience as a Product Designer or similar role
Core Skills & Attributes
• Analytical mindset with ability to understand interconnected Global Trade and Supply Chain systems
• Strong intellectual curiosity and desire to understand the “why” behind customer requests
• Interest in supply chain software architecture, EDI standards, APIs, and system logic
• Strong communication skills, including explaining compliance regulations to non-technical stakeholders
• Interest in utilizing AI-assisted design tools such as Figma Make
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Global Trade platforms (SAP GTS, Oracle GTM, Descartes)
• Familiarity with process mapping software
• Experience with customer insights tools (e.g., Pendo)
Compensation
• Salary range: $90,000 – $100,000 CAD
• Final compensation determined by skills, experience, and geographic location
