Job Description

Develop and design Dakota Panel branded manufactured products sold at Menards retail stores.  These products include, but are not limited to shelves, closets, cube storage, moldings, vanities, and other home improvement products. Combine artistic talent with research on product use, marketing, and materials to create the most functional and appealing product design.

Primary Responsibilities:

·         Prepare sketches of ideas, detailed drawings, or blueprints, using computer-aided design equipment

·         Modify and refine designs, using working models, to conform with customer specifications, production limitations, or changes in design trends.

·         Assist in development and execution of displays, and closely work with Menards Merchants.

·         Coordinate the look and function of product lines.

·         Present designs and reports to management for approval, and discuss need for modification.

·         Evaluate feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, budget, and production costs/methods.

·         Responsible for literature, marketing of product, and website development.

·         Responsible for strategic planning and continuous product improvements.

Skills & Requirements

• Degree in:
  • Graphic Design
  • Industrial Design
  • Marketing
  • Business Management
  • Or equivalent work experience.

• Ability to work independently to meet deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and must be organized
• Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
• Marketing experience is a plus
• Must have a strong work ethic
• Analytical problem solving skills
• Strong design skills
• Able to manage multiple concurrent activities

Hours of Work:

• The expected work week is Monday through Friday; hours to be determined by your Manager.
