Summit Credit Union is seeking a Product Designer at its Cottage Grove, Wisconsin office.
Job Description: Help invent new experiences for Summit Credit Union. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver, a self-starter who loves the craft of design, and an obsessive advocate for customer-centric design. Member of a team responsible for envisioning and delivering the look, feel, and smooth member experience of Summit’s digital and physical products. Concept, design, prototype, test and iterate strategic ideas. Play an integral role in communicating design goals across the organization. Storyboard and build prototypes that help bring definition to broad, open-ended problems. Use design to simplify problems, embrace constraints and negotiate trade- offs to drive alignment between experience and business objectives. Explore and analyze the value propositions of competitors to frame industry trends and emerging market behaviors. Imagine and sketch many divergent concepts, especially early in the design process, to spark collaborative problem-solving. Iterate designs quickly and thoughtfully based on customer feedback, team feedback and relevant data. Think beyond the details of the UI to envision innovative ways in which the customer engages through the experience. Advocate for the value of aesthetics in good design, but temper with the knowledge that usability and function are the foundation of truly great design. Work closely with a highly collaborative, cross-functional team by actively participating in research and development activities. Facilitate design review sessions and host design workshops with varying levels of stakeholders. Shepherd complex design projects from discovery to launch, bringing stakeholders along for the design journey. Must be well-versed in typography and color theory.
Minimum Requirements: The position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Interaction Design, or related field of study plus two (2) years of any occupation title with professional design experience delivering products. Alternately, the employer will accept a Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Interaction Design or related degree of study plus six (6) months of in any occupational title with professional design experience delivering products. The position also requires Six (6) months of experience with the following: Customer-centric design processes; Create prototypes for all stages of design research; Highly proficient with current visual design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, etc.); Solid understanding of key UI/UX principles, processes, and methodologies; Presentation skills and excellent written communication skills; Use data to inform design decisions; and Using Cinema 4D, Maya, Rhino or equivalent 3D package. Experience may be gained concurrently. Foreign degree equivalent accepted.
