Product Designer (UI/UX)

Overview

LMI is seeking a Product Designer to be a part of a team that is designing and developing products and prototypes in support of a DOD Army program. The product designer will be a member of a team of developers, data engineers, and data scientists.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product owners and the user community to gather and prioritize UX/UI requirements and feedback.
  • Lead and execute the design process for web interfaces, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and visual design.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a design system to create a consistent and user-friendly experience.
  • Collaborate with developers, data engineers and data scientists to ensure alignment within the implementation and feasibility of designs prior to deployment.
  • Engage with user community and stakeholders prior to, during and after deployment to facilitate usability analysis throughout the design and development process.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a design system to create a consistent and user-friendly experience.

Qualifications

Required

  • At least 3 years of experience in product design or a related field.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of UX/UI design principles and best practices, including consistency, simplicity, and usability.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively articulate and defend design ideas to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of visual design principles, such as typography, hierarchy, balance, motion, and interaction.
  • Experience with information architecture, user journeys, and wireframing.
  • Portfolio demonstrating knowledge and understanding of design best practices and methodology, with a focus on real-world case studies.
  • Experience with design tools, such as Figma and Adobe CC.
  • Ability to grasp technical concepts and apply them effectively to practical solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, user experience, technology, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US government clearance.

Preferred

  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Experience working with a variety of stakeholders, including business end users, solution architects, engineers, and developers.
  • Experience working within an Agile Software Development environment.
  • Experience working within a product team focused on a data analytics platform.
  • Experience in user research, including conducting moderated interviews, user testing, persona creation, information architecture, and workflow creation.
  • Previous experience in the government contracting space.
  • Experience in web app design.
  • Experience working in a start-up environment.
