Interested in joining? We’re seeking a highly motivated and driven Senior Product Designer who will help us stay on the cutting edge of creativity and innovation in the fast-growing consumer genetics and pet care space.

The Role

At Embark, you’ll have the chance to design the future of pet care. If you’re a versatile product designer—comfortable talking with customers, producing various design artifacts, and crafting end to end experiences — you’ll want to throw your hat in the ring.

The pet care space is exploding with new technologies and growing demand for more comprehensive care for dogs. Our customers’ expectations are higher than ever for simple, useful, and delightful digital experiences and through other connected physical products. It’s a landscape ripe for thoughtful design collaboration with product, engineering, and science to build Embark’s next-generation products.

Our ideal Senior Product Designer is creative, nimble, has a deep respect for the finer details, and is excited to craft products that people will be passionate about.

The Opportunity (The day-to-day)

• Lead discovery explorations to inform our innovation roadmap
• Unleash a UX toolkit of ideation and artifacts, including journey mapping, user flows, etc.
• Participate in design critiques and agile ceremonies
• Design best-in-class experiences based in customer needs, business goals, and technical requirements
• Articulate design considerations tailored to different audiences
• Conduct customer research and socialize insights to maintain and promote UX research practice throughout the company
• Coach teammates on Embark’s Design Principles
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and other stakeholders
• Be a champion for dogs and their owners

Requirements 

• A portfolio that demonstrates successful design across web and mobile experiences, and ability to create lightweight prototypes for testing
• At least 5+ years of required experience in visual design, UI design, graphic design, interaction design, or related field
• Proficiency in Figma, Adobe CC, Miro, UserTesting.com
• Deep care for aesthetics and a great eye for typography, layout, and visual design
• Strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques, including modern UI patterns, accessibility standards, design systems, and mobile design
• You are proactive and can work independently, while also pairing and collaborating with product managers, engineers, and other designers
• You care deeply about the details and having an exceptional level of fit and finish
• Preferred:
  • Familiarity with the pet industry including major pet brands and trends
  • Prior startup experience
  • E-commerce and B2C/DTC experience
  • Expert in typography, color theory, and icon systems
  • Strong understanding of project life cycle methodology (PLM) and testing, performance, security, compliance, and accessibility methodologies
  • System thinker with an understanding of atomic design principles

Boston-based, but open to remote candidates who can work East Coast hours.

Salary: $130,000 – $150,000
