To successfully launch and grow, Quartermaster needs a Senior Product Designer who has a deep empathy for people, and strives to ensure that each touch point with the customer (our definition of UX) is maximized to provide a delightful experience. As a key member of our design team, your job will be to take broad, conceptual ideas and turn them into highly impactful designs (account for aesthetics, and interactions) that elevate the UX of our user-facing side of our platform to make home management easier and frictionless. You’ll be the third member of our small, but mighty, design team and will report into the Head of Product. You’ll have an opportunity to define and shape our design practices as we continue to grow.   • Embody the idea of customer obsession and take a first principles approach to define, solve, and deliver designs that solve our customers’ problems.
  • Customer conversations are part of your life blood, and you’ll love leading a variety of types of generative and evaluative user research.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, Community Managers, and Commercial Team members to create a holistic experience from concept to high fidelity designs.
  • Help design and implement mobile and web application software that provide a cohesive experience across multiple platforms
  • Consistently solicit and provide feedback throughout our design process, continually raising our bar for quality
  • Effectively communicate and negotiate with our development team to maximize the user experience while accounting for ambitious deadlines and technical limitations
  • Help us build out and iterate on our design team processes, to help us solve the right problems, solve problems right, and consistently ship high quality designs.


  • A proven ability to deeply understand the product and form opinions about how best to approach design solutions.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to deliver end-to-end user experiences (visual and interaction) in individual and team capacities, and know when and how to simplify a solution.
  • Ability to drive both evaluative and generative research initiatives and iterate and improve on designs through the process.
  • Solid understanding of how to leverage customer usage data to know if designs are achieving the desired outcomes for our users.
  • Has worked with a design system previously. Can contribute to and push the progression of our design system
  • Strong visual design skills and knowledge of mobile and web design patterns (also know when it’s beneficial to break them).
  • Highly comfortable with writing copy that ships to customers.
  • Fluent in design and prototyping tools (Figma preferred)
  • Nice to have illustrative/graphic design skills.

  • Since we’re driven by user testing and market fit, projects and priorities may shift quickly. Expect to see change in our work, but we remain consistent in driving towards our roadmap outcomes.
  • Legacy code and designs. We have some (everyone does!) and we face it head on in our decision making when looking how to tackle problems.
  • Stability and reliability are an essential part of our values, so “move fast and break things” isn’t the standard here.
