Job Description
NBCUniversal is looking for a Senior UI/UX Technical Designer to lead the design and implementation of sleek, high-performance, player-centric user interfaces using Unreal Engine 5+. This role combines UX thinking, UI aesthetics, and hands-on implementation to bring the game's interface to life. You will play a key role in establishing the foundations of UI systems that will evolve with the project and the team.
Responsibilities:
Design UX mockups, user journeys, and interactive layouts using Figma
Create a UI visual direction with style guides and mockups
Translate mockups and prototypes into fully functional and responsive user interfaces using Unreal Engine UMG and Common UI
Establish a scalable UI architecture and reusable widget libraries for the entire game
Collaborate with designers, engineers, and artists to integrate UI/UX features aligned with gameplay and storytelling goals
Define technical best practices and workflows for UI implementation in Unreal Engine 5+
Deliver high-performance, platform-specific UI solutions, including console and PC
Support onboarding and mentorship of future UI/UX technical designers
Maintain a strong focus on usability, accessibility, and responsiveness throughout the development process
Assimilate complex concepts and simplify them into an intuitive and easy-to-discover user experience
NBCUniversal looking for a Principal UI/UX Technical Designer to lead the design and implementation of elegant, performant, and player-focused user interfaces using Unreal Engine 5+. This role blends UX thinking, UI aesthetics, and hands-on implementation to bring our game's interface to life. You'll be instrumental in establishing the foundations for both the UI systems that will scale with the project and the team.
Responsibilities:
Design UX wireframes, player flows, and interactive layouts using Figma
Create UI visual direction together with style guides and mockups
Translate wireframes and mockups into fully functional, responsive UI using Unreal Engine UMG and Common UI
Establish scalable UI architecture and reusable widget libraries for use across the game
Collaborate with designers, engineers, and artists to integrate UI/UX features that align with gameplay and narrative goals

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
More than 7 years of experience in game development, with a strong specialization in UI/UX design and implementation
In-depth expertise with Unreal Engine 5+, including UMG/Slate and Common UI
Proficiency in Figma to create mockups of layouts, journeys, and interactions
Experience in creating high-performance, modular, designer-friendly UI systems
Demonstrated ability to design UI art mockups and create style guides
Mastery of usability principles and accessibility standards
Help establish guidelines and standards for visual language within products and across product lines
Desired features
Experience leading or mentoring UI/UX design teams
Familiarity with moving design, UI animation, and material editor
Knowledge of location pipelines, input mapping systems, and platform certification requirements
Experience in delivering UI interfaces on PC and console platforms
Familiarity with user research, interviews, and testing
Additional Requirements
Hybrid position (minimum of 3 days per week in the office)
Located in Montreal, Canada or ready to relocate there

7+ years of experience in game development, with a strong focus on UI/UX design and implementation
Deep expertise with Unreal Engine 5+, including UMG/Slate and Common UI
