SENIOR UI/UX DESIGNERS AT BSG…
You have intimate knowledge of the design pipeline and have evolved your UI/UX skillset and related techniques to align with the wisdom you’ve gained by working on numerous AAA titles. You are recognized as a reliable designer with the chops to get the job done but the self-actualization to know when to seek feedback. You laugh in the face of a challenge because you already set high expectations for yourself and are confident in your ability to deliver high-quality work the first time around.
Although your influence is essential to the department’s success and you provide some mentorship to junior developers, UI/UX design is your bread and butter. You are a master of independent work but recognize the power behind collaboration so you haven’t forgotten how to be a team player.
Role and Responsibilities
Blind Squirrel Games (BSG) is looking for a Senior UI/UX Designer to join us in crafting immersive player experiences for a thrilling IP!
Supported by the Lead Designer and other talented developers, the Senior UI/UX Designer will work within a highly collaborative, cross-disciplined team to deliver top-tier design assets.
As a Senior UI/UX Designer at BSG, you will contribute to the project by steering the creative implementation of player-centric experiences throughout the development process, crafting and optimizing design elements from HUD to player journey.
The ideal candidate for this role has experience gathering actionable feedback from creative teams, iterating UI/UX concepts at every stage of development and working closely with Engineering to implement data-informed design elements that meet project expectations and deadlines.
This is a full-time position available to work remotely within the United States or based out of one of our studio locations in Irvine, CA or Austin, TX.
The salary range being considered for this role is $105,000 – $117,900. The actual amounts may differ based on experience, performance, and location. These salary ranges do not apply to locations outside the United States.
Responsibilities
- Participate in feature planning meetings and discussions
- Collaborate with UI designers and engineers to ensure that all in-game information is presented clearly
- Collaborate with cross functional team to discover, create, implement a player first user experience
- Work with the team throughout the design process, gathering actionable feedback and iterating at the appropriate levels
- Deliver appropriate UX/UI design artifacts (concepts, flows, personas, player journeys, layouts, mock-ups and prototypes) appropriate for each stage of development process
- Create and deliver high-craft presentations and communication with stakeholders
- Communicate your data-informed design rationale to stakeholders in a clear manner
- Document and advocate for high-quality UX standards, continuously improving the workflow process as it relates to UX
- 5+ years of experience in the game industry as a designer
- Understanding and experience with interaction modalities across controller, keyboard, and mouse
- Prototyping skills, using interactive tools to communicate design decisions and rationale
- Experience designing in-game and meta-level game UX flows
- Experience creating game UI systems for multiple platforms
- Experience with accessibility features and systems
- Demonstrated ability to deliver polished visual designs
- Technically proficient and a core advocate for optimized, well-executed UX content.
- Proficient in UX design tools, such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch etc.
Pluses
- A portfolio demonstrating exemplary UI/UX experience working in interactive media
- Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Psychology, Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, or related HCI discipline
- At least one shipped AAA title as a UX designer
