The Role
Reddit is seeking a Senior Director of Design to lead the core experience architecture of the platform. In this leadership role, you will define and drive a cohesive UX strategy across Reddit’s consumer experience while serving as a key pillar within the broader Reddit UX organization.
You will anticipate evolving user and business needs, lead large design teams, and drive meaningful platform improvements. A major focus of this role will be guiding the design strategy for app navigation, platform architecture, and visual UI systems, helping elevate product quality, efficiency, and consistency across the organization.
You will also play a critical role in evolving Reddit’s design systems while empowering users to create and engage with content more easily across the platform.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
• Define and drive end-to-end UX strategy aligned with Reddit’s mission and brand identity
• Shape long-term design direction across the Reddit consumer experience
Organizational Design & Scaling
• Lead and grow a large, high-performing design organization
• Manage teams that include senior design managers and multiple design disciplines
Cross-Functional Impact
• Partner deeply with Product, Engineering, and Research teams to drive major product initiatives
• Deliver platform improvements that significantly impact user engagement and business outcomes
Operational Excellence
• Improve design systems and workflows that increase team efficiency and design quality
• Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality user experiences across products
Executive Influence
• Communicate and influence strategic decisions with executive leadership
• Advocate for user-centered design across the organization
Change Leadership
• Adapt quickly to evolving priorities and shifting product strategies
• Demonstrate a “Reddit-first” mindset when navigating complex decisions
Mentorship & Talent Development
• Foster a culture of high-performing design teams ("Great Performing Snoos")
• Mentor designers and leaders across the organization
Qualifications
• 15+ years of design experience
• 7+ years managing teams of 15+ designers
• A world-class portfolio demonstrating design strategy and systems at consumer scale
• Experience leading company-wide design initiatives and cross-functional product roadmaps
• Strong ability to build solutions from first principles in ambiguous environments
• Proven leadership influencing executive teams and cross-functional organizations
• Deep user empathy and passion for building exceptional consumer products
• Humble, driven, and committed to shipping high-quality products
Compensation
Base Salary Range: $282,200 – $395,100 USD
