Layer is on a mission to empower professionals with cutting-edge AI tools for generating images, videos, 3D, and audio assets. By combining AI agents, automated workflows, and model-agnostic infrastructure into one secure system, Layer transforms creative production from a bottleneck into a scalable performance engine.

The Layer platform helps artists create high-quality assets more efficiently and flexibly, redefining the creative process for entertainment brands—starting with games. Hundreds of studios use Layer to bring marketing production in-house, increase creative testing velocity, and reduce agency dependency without sacrificing quality or control.

The Role
As a Staff Product Designer, you will be the principal hands-on designer for our creation suite. You’ll own the end-to-end user experience—from early research and prototyping through polished, pixel-perfect interfaces—across image, video, 3D, and audio workflows.

You will partner with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to translate game-studio pain points into elegant, intuitive tools that feel “built for artists.”

This is a senior individual-contributor (IC) role with company-wide impact. You’ll set design quality standards, evolve our design system, and mentor designers as the team grows.

What You’ll Do
• Lead product design for flagship features: concept sketches, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mocks, and interactive prototypes
• Drive artist-centric research: plan studies, run interviews, synthesize insights, and translate findings into action
• Shape and evolve the design system (components, patterns, tokens) to ensure cohesion across web and desktop experiences
• Collaborate closely with VP of Product and VP of Engineering to scope MVPs, validate interaction models, and refine through iterative releases
• Champion accessibility and craft—ensuring every interaction feels fast, delightful, and inclusive

What We’re Looking For
• 7+ years of product/UX design experience
• 2+ years designing complex creator tools or B2B SaaS platforms
• Portfolio demonstrating shipped, production-ready experiences (bonus: conversational AI tools)
• Mastery of Figma, Storybook, and Material UI (or equivalent systems)
• Strong rapid prototyping and design system thinking
• Fluency in user-centered research and translating insights into strategic decisions
• Proven experience collaborating cross-functionally in fast-moving startup environments
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills

Nice to Have
• Experience with generative AI tools
• Background in game art pipelines (Unreal, Unity, Blender)
• Experience designing conversational AI interfaces
• Experience with real-time collaborative tools
• Familiarity with Gaming, LiveOps, Ad Tech, or UA Ads

Why Join Layer AI?
• Work on innovative AI-driven tools for creative professionals
• High autonomy with ownership from concept to launch
• Join a rapidly growing startup with meaningful growth opportunities
• Collaborate with passionate technologists and creatives
