Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, empowering legal professionals and law firms to work smarter, faster, and more securely. Our mission is to transform the legal experience while increasing access to justice.

Design is one of the three pillars of Clio’s R&D organization alongside Product Management and Engineering. Designers are deeply embedded in shaping user experience and business outcomes at scale.

The Role
Clio is hiring a Staff Product Designer to join the Platform team. This is a backfill for an existing role.

As a Staff Designer, you will operate at a strategic level — navigating complex, undefined problem spaces and influencing decision-making through strong problem framing, storytelling, and systems thinking.

You will drive long-term design vision, mentor other designers, and lead high-impact initiatives under tight timelines.

About the Platform Team
The Platform team builds centralized tools for Clio users and reusable frameworks for product teams. The work focuses on solving complex foundational problems so product teams can move faster and deliver cohesive, scalable experiences across Clio’s ecosystem.

What You’ll Work On
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Research to shape strategy and roadmap priorities
• Own end-to-end journeys from vision → ideation → prototyping → testing → production
• Develop and communicate longer-term design vision across your problem space
• Align experiences across product teams for consistency and cohesion
• Challenge existing patterns and introduce new problem-solving approaches
• Mentor and provide design feedback to peers
• Partner with your Design Manager to uphold craft and quality standards
• Serve on the Staff Product Design Council to evolve team culture and design system governance

What You Bring
• 7+ years of Product Design experience
• Proven experience leading design across a product area
• Strong UX research, interaction design, visual design, and prototyping skills
• Experience building SaaS products
• Experience building for SMBs or Consumers
• Systems thinking and experience working on platform teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Low ego, collaborative mindset
• Interest in improving craft through AI-enabled workflows

Total Rewards & Compensation
Salary Range (CAD): $148,000 – $185,000 – $222,000
(Final offer based on region, experience, and skillset.)

Highlights include:
• Competitive salary + top-tier health, dental, and vision insurance
• Hybrid work model (local employees: minimum twice/week in office)
• Flexible time off (encouraged 20 days/year)
• $2,000 annual counseling benefit
• RRSP matching + RESP contribution
