UX Designer

Job Summary

The UX Designer will help create Synovus’ vision to expand its digital footprint and create a customer-centric, differentiated experience that supports our brand promise and delights our customers. Under the direction of the digital design leadership, the UX Designer is responsible for executing on designs set by the larger design team, maintaining use of the digital design system standards, and working closely with other members of the digital team using a variety of methods (storyboards, wireframes, prototypes, user stories, etc.). The role will assist in some user research efforts along with assisting in accessibility/usability testing. This role partners with product and application owners, business leaders, marketing, IT and various vendor partners. The UX Designer’s expertise in UI/UX positions the role as a practitioner within Synovus, inspiring innovation and investment in new creative approaches and ideas.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in designing digital user experiences across all digital delivery channels using best practices in data-driven customer-centric design and meeting business objectives and Synovus’ design vision.
  • Assists in creating storyboards, wireframes, user flows/journeys, prototypes and user stories (as needed) to communicate and validate designs.
  • Creates and maintains accurate guides and repositories of design specifications and components.
  • Works through fast-paced iterations and feedback as requirements progress and usability/user feedback grows or validates design concepts.
  • Observes and assists in user feedback activities, and analyzes research and output to enhance the user design and education stakeholders
  • Follows UX design standards and processes and supports strategic alignment and speed to market, while ensuring what is released is a high-quality, well-tested differentiated experience.
  • Participates actively with deep partnership within development and QA teams to ensure the fidelity of designs.
  • Actively collaborates and partners with digital product owners and stakeholders to understand objectives and inform design concepts.
  • Assists the subject matter expert on UI/UX and digital design across the enterprise.
  • Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
  • Keeps up with trends in UX design and research.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors’ Degree preferably in Design with a focus in UX related fields (HCI, etc.) OR 5+ years of work experience in UX and UI Design (Prototyping / Visual Design / Research / Information Architecture)

Minimum Experience:

  • 3+ years of work experience in UX and UI Design

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Has exceptional responsive web and mobile apps design skills which focus on the customer, consistency and simplification.
  • Strong knowledge in human-centered design and UI/UX methods and fundamentals which can be demonstrated through a strong portfolio of creative work.
  • Strong collaboration skills across a variety of audiences.
  • Translate requirements into design tools and functional prototypes (information architecture diagrams, storyboards, process/page flows, etc.) and effectively represents design concepts with peers, stakeholders and product owners.
  • Strong interest in emerging technologies and customer trends, web design technologies, customer interaction with financial tools and user-experience best practices.
  • Deep knowledge of W3C web standards , website/mobile accessibility, and responsive design

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Financial services experience with knowledge of digital banking and Fintech space
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present ideas and solutions in an organized and compelling manner
  • Agile development experience preferred
  • Proficient in standard design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Jira) as well as a working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and responsive design layouts
