Our team creates world-class immersive digital experiences for the Company’s premier vacation brands including Disney’s Parks & Resorts worldwide, Disney Cruise Line, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, and Disney Vacation Club. We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!
This role sits in the Operations & Integration organization within Disney Experiences (DX) Technology & Digital. The UX/UI Designer will report to the Manager, Technology for Data Analytics & Reporting.
This is an estimated 24-month project hire placement, with no guarantee of permanent placement.
What You Will Do
User Research: Conduct user research to understand the needs, preferences, and struggles of target users. Analyze data usage patterns and user feedback to advise design decisions.
Conceptualization and Wireframing: Create wireframes and prototypes to visualize dashboard layouts and interactions. Develop design concepts that align with user requirements and business goals.
Visual Information Architecture: Coordinate complex data sets into logical and user-friendly visual information architectures. Define the hierarchy and structure of the dashboard components for efficient user comprehension.
Visual Design: Design visually appealing and consistent user interfaces that convey sophisticated data in a clear and understandable manner. Choose appropriate color schemes, typography, and iconography for an enhanced user experience.
Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, developers, and business partners to ensure alignment between design and technical considerations. Participate in cross-functional meetings and contribute to the overall product strategy.
Prototyping and Testing: Develop interactive prototypes to validate design concepts and capture user feedback. Conduct usability testing to identify and address usability issues and refine designs accordingly.
Responsive Design: Ensure that dashboard designs are adaptable and accessible across various devices and screen sizes.
Documentation: Create and maintain design documentation, style guides, and design specifications for development teams.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of related work experience
- Strong understanding and ability to incorporate analytics design principles and standard processes.
- Ability to build attractive and functional designs while understanding of business objectives.
- Expertise in design and prototyping tools (Adobe Creative Cloud Suite – XD, Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Experience and understanding of a variety of business intelligence tools such as PowerBI and Tableau, in the perspective of how widgets and visualizations are used to tell the data story using analytics.
- Able to document and establish alignment around user requirements and goals.
- Ability to evaluate user requirements in collaboration with development team.
- Experience developing UI mockups and sketches that clearly illustrate how components function.
- Ability to prepare and present designs/prototypes to internal teams and key partners.
- Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide compelling presentations using attractive and robust wireframes for data driven storytelling.
- Ability to collaborate with various collaborators across the business, iterating quickly and asking the right questions.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
