Karen Ni
UX Designer, Atlassian
Wxmen of color (WOC) and their experiences related to their gendered and racialized identities are often overlooked within the technology industry. In this talk, you’ll hear about the stories of WOC UX designers and design managers and how race and gender influence their design process, management styles, and bigger organizational decisions. We’ll explore how embracing intersectional identities helped them design for diverse users in a historically patriarchal and classist space, and how inclusive UX design is shaping the future of the industry.
By day, Karen (she/her) is a UX Designer at Atlassian building the next generation B2B eCommerce experience. Before Atlassian, she graduated from the Ethnic Studies program at UC Berkeley, where her research focused on inclusive design and the relations of race and gender in the software industry.
