Senior Product Designer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Designer with deep expertise in native mobile applications and design systems to support a major digital refresh for a self-directed investing platform. In this role, you will lead the creation, expansion, and maintenance of reusable UI components and patterns in Figma while designing intuitive, accessible end-to-end user experiences for both iOS and Android platforms.

This is a 12-month contract opportunity located in Toronto, ON, operating on a hybrid work schedule (4 days per week on-site).

Description As a Senior Product Designer, you will serve as a key contributor to the digital platform's native mobile experience. You will think strategically about user experience while delivering polished, high-fidelity visual and interaction designs from concept through implementation and QA. A major focus of this role involves leading and owning design system components in Figma, establishing clear documentation, ensuring technical feasibility, and collaborating closely with developers, product managers, content designers, and researchers in an agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Design easy-to-use, accessible, and client-focused end-to-end native mobile experiences (iOS and Android) across self-directed investing capabilities.
• Build, publish, and maintain reusable design system components, pattern libraries, themes, and documentation in Figma.
• Partner closely with cross-functional teams—including developers, product managers, researchers, and content designers—to define, refine, and deliver platform features.
• Collaborate directly with technology partners to ensure designs are technically feasible and optimized for native mobile implementation.
• Perform Design QA on final product implementations to verify strict adherence to design specifications and visual standards.
• Write clear, concise usage guidelines and documentation to guide cross-functional teams in utilizing design system components effectively.
• Ensure all new components meet WCAG accessibility standards and comply with device-level requirements (e.g., updating components for Apple platform updates).
• Proactively identify design risks, establish interaction states/edge cases, and propose effective solutions to maintain quality and scalability.

Requirements

• Experience: 5+ years of UX/UI design experience, with specific expertise in native mobile applications (iOS and Android) and building/maintaining design systems.
• Education: Degree in design, a design-related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Design Systems Expertise: Demonstrated track record of leading, owning, and scaling component libraries and design systems in Figma.
• Technical & Platform Knowledge: Advanced proficiency in Figma (wireframing, prototyping, components, and documentation) and a strong command of native iOS and Android design patterns, interaction models, and platform guidelines.
• Tooling Proficiency: Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, After Effects, InDesign) for specialized layout, illustration, and animation assets.
• Design QA & Accessibility: Strong attention to detail regarding interaction states, transitions, and edge cases, paired with a solid understanding of WCAG accessibility standards.
• Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to present ideas clearly, gather feedback, and work collaboratively with engineering and product teams.

• Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Background in self-directed investing, wealth management, banking, or financial services.
• Experience crafting high-fidelity prototypes, user flow diagrams, and storyboards.
• General understanding of Agile methodologies and web technologies (HTML/CSS).
