Principal User Experience Designer

Description

Leidos is looking for a Principal User Experience Designer to lead a cross-functional team of human factors professionals, artists, and software developers at the intersection of Human Factors Engineering and Marketing Strategy, across a suite of web-based and 3D/XR applications. The successful candidate will be able to design fluid user experiences on a variety of platforms, incorporate highly engaging branding, making a suite of products one easily comprehendible whole, clearly articulate their vision to artists and developers, and bring the whole thing to fruition using Agile project methodologies.

Primary Responsibilities

Design, clearly articulate, and execute on a vision for a sublime user experience across a suite of products.

Work as part of a team to develop creative and engaging interactive experiences in support of software engineering projects.

Design and develop engaging visuals, graphics, XR content, and animations.

Collaborate cross-functionally with other team members to accomplish tasks and complete projects.

Work with other software engineering leads to coordinate resources, prioritize activities, and ensure quality and timely products.

Utilize project tracking tools and weekly meetings to track, communicate, and manage all tasks and projects to ensure all assigned tasks are completed or before the established due date.

Communication and promote effective use of new and current technologies to the customer.

Analyze project options and provide recommendations to address physical and security constraints.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in human factors, software design, software engineering, graphic design, visual design, fine arts, or related field and 12+ years of related job experience.

Experience should include a minimum of five (5) years of recent interactive multimedia development / design / programming experience.

Additional experience using a diverse range of multimedia, electronic authoring and development tools, software, and platforms for the delivery of products such as Unity, Unreal Engine, Blender, Illustrator, Photoshop and/or wireframing software.

Experience designing in and integrating elements from the Adobe Creative Suite or other compositing packages.

Strong visual design including use of lighting, composition, and color.

Experience designing products and applications, including 2D animations, ideally for interactive software.

Experience developing mockups, user flows, storyboards, and prototypes to effectively communicate web design.

Experience generating cohesive, desirable UI/UX design, based on holistic consideration of the users including adherence to accessible design principles.

Experience utilizing project tracking mechanisms to communicate, coordinate, prioritize, and complete projects on schedule.

Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to hand off work and designs to an integration team, across various air-gapped customer environments.

Candidate must be a US Citizen to bill to this contract.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing engaging software product brands and/or marketing campaigns.

Experience designing user experiences for web applications.

Experience designing user experiences for gaming engine applications.

Experience using content management systems.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $122,200.00 – $220,900.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
