Responsibilities

State Farm’s Experience Design Center of Excellence is looking for a for a Product Designer with experience in visual design and in building and maintaining design systems. Your unique perspective and expertise is needed to build a comprehensive and user-friendly design system. Your hands-on experience as a user will enable you to understand the needs and pain points of fellow designers, while your expertise as a creator will allow them to develop intuitive and effective design system components. A strong collaborative approach will be instrumental in creating and maintaining our complex design system, ensuring efficient workflows and improving our overall design system documentation and information architecture.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, and product owners, to understand user requirements and translate them into intuitive and visually appealing design system components.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive UX design system that includes UI patterns, style guides, design principles, and interaction guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough research to identify and analyze user needs and preferences, and incorporate these insights into the design system.
  • Create prototypes and conduct usability testing to validate design decisions and iterate on the design system components.
  • Work closely with developers to ensure the successful implementation of design system components and maintain consistency across different platforms and devices.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to UX design systems, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with other UX designers to ensure the design system aligns with the overall brand identity and user experience strategy

Qualifications

Competitive/ideal candidates must have the following skills/experience:

  • Demonstrated proficiency using, contributing to, and maintaining enterprise design systems.
  • Strong web design/visual design, layout, and typography skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Proven experience in UX design, with a focus on design systems and component-based design.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma
  • Demonstrated experience working with design tokens in a multi-platform environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively articulate design decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience in end-to-end user experience processes and workflows, including user journeys, wireframing, prototyping.
  • Understanding of CSS variables and pre-processors (like LESS, SASS), JSON, or similar technologies related to design token creation.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to balance multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • A portfolio showcasing your previous work on UX design systems and visual design expertise is highly desirable.

For Colorado, Hawaii and Washington State candidates: Salary Range: $90,600-$156,200

For California, New York, and CT candidates: Potential salary range: $90,600-$177,500

Potential yearly incentive pay: up to 15% of base salary
