Principal Product Designer

A Moving Experience.

As a Principal Product Designer, you will play a crucial role in designing new, innovative and intuitive user interfaces for our voice assistant-related products. With your expertise in product design, you will collaborate closely with UX designers and developers to deliver exceptional experiences first in our car simulator prototypes, then in our shipping products.

But that’s not all! As a Cerence team member, you’ll also:

  • Design interactive prototypes and interfaces, driving the exploration of innovative product solutions while prioritizing user-centric design principles.
  • Create visually exceptional interfaces, combining captivating UI animations and motion graphics to enhance user engagement and visual appeal.
  • Apply UX and UI design best practices to develop intuitive and engaging interfaces for new products and features, ensuring seamless user interactions.
  • Operate within an agile development environment, utilizing relevant tools to comprehensively document and collaborate on design and development processes.
  • Proactively lead and contribute as a valued member of a cross-functional team, actively identifying and seizing opportunities to enhance user experiences.
  • Cultivate a profound sense of empathy and understanding for user needs and pain points, infusing user-centric perspectives into every design decision.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with fellow designers, product managers, and developers to continually identify and implement fresh experiences, thereby expanding and elevating the product portfolio.
  • Provide strong leadership for the design team re how best to merge UX and design research into a world class product design.
  • Provide advanced skills for design and development in how best to build, scale, and maintain the design via Figma, etc.

Who you are:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in a design-related field, including but not limited to Human-Computer Interaction and UX Design.
  • Accumulate a minimum of 8 years of extensive hands-on experience in Product design, showcasing a track record of successful contributions.
  • Showcase adeptness in crafting innovative prototypes that push the boundaries of product exploration and envisioning.
  • Display proficiency in wireframing, employing this skill to visually articulate design concepts and user flows.
  • Exhibit seasoned familiarity with voice assistant interaction patterns, voice technology, and platforms, translating this expertise into impactful design solutions.
  • Demonstrate a history of creating products with an unwavering user-centered design focus, evident in every stage of the design process.
  • Demonstrate a history of building and shipping product interfaces.
  • Excel in presentation skills, effectively articulating the value of design and product decisions to various stakeholders.
  • Evident exceptional problem-solving capabilities, which contribute to the creation of seamless and user-friendly interfaces.
  • Showcase a proven ability to rapidly grasp and apply new technologies and tools, including AI, bolstering design innovation.
  • Maintain an up-to-date awareness of industry trends, consistently integrating best practices into Product design endeavors.
  • Exhibit hands-on experience with software development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum, ensuring alignment with collaborative team dynamics.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with teams spanning multiple locations and continents, facilitating effective communication and global alignment.
  • Proficiently navigate design tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD, employing these platforms to bring design visions to life.
  • Demonstrate strong competence in Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and Dreamweaver, enhancing design precision and creativity
