Your Role and Responsibilities
As a mid-level UI/UX Designer, you will join an Agile program team responsible for modernizing, iteratively developing on, and maintaining operations for a suite of highly visible applications for an innovative federal government agency. You will be responsible for understanding the business objectives and application users/personas to develop highly intuitive, user-centric interface designs for the program. You are collaborative and cooperative by nature, and you are passionate about creating high-quality software that serves members of the public utilizing the government systems you support. You are agile and retrospective, and not afraid to identify what we are doing wrong so we can fix it, and what we are doing right so we can improve upon it.
Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain Public Trust clearance.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• Utilize a variety of design techniques and technologies to create and modify user interface designs that maximize the usability of new or existing systems.
• Combine business goals with UX best practices and realistic development expectations to establish a highly intuitive user experience.
• Create a variety of low- and high-fidelity wireframes and mockups in cooperation with stakeholders, product owners, and technical team members.
• Lead design meetings and demonstrations in cooperation with technical team members, analysts, other designers, and product owners.
• Possesses an understanding of Section 508 compliance principles and testing technologies and strategies.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
• Familiarity with U.S. Web Design System (USWDS).
• Experience working in an agile development environment, preferably SAFe or Scrum.
• Actively participate in and contribute to planning, refinement, estimation, design, retrospective, and technical demo meetings.
